December 2007

Bring on 2008!

Over the months of November and December G.O. Ministries held our annual meetings. All of the American staff come together to plan for the coming year. There are a lot of exciting changes.

As I have mentioned before we are building a church/feeding center in a community called Hato del Yaque. In this same building there will be dorm rooms to house teams that come for short-term mission adventures.

A construction crew is working hard to get the building ready for the summer.

I will be moving out to Hato del Yaque for the summer to host the teams that will be staying there. As ministry opportunities grow I'll be living out there on a long term basis.

There will be a nutrition center that will feed about 120 children daily.

The church family that is crunched into a small space will have room to edify each other and their community.

Hato del Yaque is where I did my internship when I first came to G.O. Ministries three years ago so it is incredible that God is leading me back there. It has remained close to my heart. I did weekly children's ministry with some of the youth in the church. We had on average 80 children packed into the church. They are still doing weekly children's ministry. They hold two services. One in the church and one in the unfinished building, at the same time.

the community of Hato del Yaque came into existence almost thirty years ago after hurricane David destroyed much of the local farmland and any homes in its path. The government placed all those farmers in a single community who ended up working for larger agriculture companies. The land where Hato del Yaque now sits was originally owned by a wealthy land owner or the electric company. Ironically much of the community still has no electricity or running water.

Many people work at the factories in town or with the agricultural companies. But work can be seasonal or hard to find.

With God's help and yours we can help the people of Hato del Yaque change thier community!

I believe that God is going to touch a lot of lives through this area and the wonderful people that live there.

I just can't wait to see what God is going to do in 2008!!!
